Hemswell is located next to Hemswell Biogas, an anaerobic digestion site that has the capacity to recycle and process 140,000 tonnes of food waste and organic materials per year. This produces both gas and electricity with the capacity to produce 17 MWth of renewable biogas.
Hemswell Coldstore has a partnership with Hemswell Biogas to power us with a 100% renewable electricity source via anaerobic digestion from the locally sourced food waste.
